12,000,000 dots

A project created for Wolff Olins and Good for Nothing, to highlight the crisis of the drought and resulting famine facing East Africa. In 2010, 12 million people in East Africa were in desperate need of food and water. This number is incomprehensible to most, so we wanted to show how many it is, rather than simply by using words, and thereby risking undermining the scale of the problem. Last time we checked, this was the world’s third largest poster (beaten only by an advertising poster for the Bollywood movie ‘Boss’ and a poster to mark the release of Michael Jackson’s Michael’ album).
